Hey, I'm Jonas — founder of Good Reusables.
I grew up on a farm in Bavaria, where not wasting things wasn’t a trend, it was just life. Farmers were doing circular economy long before it had a name.
I’ve spent 15+ years in specialty coffee across Europe and Australia, and one thing always bothered me. Why obsess over quality all day, then pour it into a cheap plastic-lined cup? It never sat right.
Good Reusables is my answer to that.
After our first daughter was born, reducing our impact got more urgent.
During Covid, our family got stuck in Germany. So I opened a café with my sister Lisa, named Poppi Farmer after our grandpa. It was a chance to show what a truly sustainable and profitable café looks like in practice: 100% organic, local produce, milk in returnable glass bottles and reusable cups at scale.
Even at full tilt on a 3-group Slayer, with a line out the door, our cup reuse system worked perfectly. That’s when I knew we could leave single-use cups behind and still have a thriving coffee industry, with better coffee, lower costs and no cups to landfill.
Back in Northern NSW, I threw myself into permaculture, reconnecting with Country and the circular systems that had always made sense to me. But seeing how broken the reuse options were for Australian cafés, I couldn’t stay in the veggie patch.
After a 12-month design process with local coffee pros, and local production and recycling sorted, Good Reusables is even better than the system I used in Germany.
I’m grateful to every café and barista who helped shape it, and to everyone embracing this change. The best part isn’t the cups though. It’s watching reuse bring communities together to solve a problem that’s been around too long.
If any of this resonates, book a call. It’s not a sales call. I’ve been a café owner, so I know how that feels.
